Ranveer Singh’s latest film has become the talk of the town following the release of its adrenaline-pumping trailer, which showcases a mix of high-octane action, captivating songs, and visual transformations that have caught the audience’s attention. Following its debut in theaters, the film has enjoyed a robust run at the box office, underlining its appeal.
Prosthetic designer Preetisheel Singh recently elaborated on the meticulous preparation required to bring the characters to life, particularly focusing on Ranveer Singh and Akshaye Khanna. Preetisheel explained that Ranveer’s transformation for his role necessitated a daily commitment of 1.5 to 2 hours for his appearance to reflect his character’s evolution from rugged street life to the complexities of gang involvement. On days when blood effects were needed, this preparation could extend to two hours. Over the course of the film, Ranveer’s character ages and transforms, requiring the use of various hair and beard extensions to depict the character’s growth realistically.
Preetisheel emphasized the importance of representing the initial grunginess of Ranveer’s character, showing him as someone initially lacking basic resources—living on the streets without a stable home. This raw look included unkempt hair and haphazard grooming, transitioning gradually as his character integrated into the gang culture.
Akshaye Khanna also underwent a specialized transformation for his character. Preetisheel, who had previously designed his look for another film, noted that Khanna aimed to showcase a suave, commanding presence. He was conscious of maintaining a unique portrayal that diverged from his earlier roles. The design highlighted his receding hairline, reinforcing a sense of maturity and sophistication that resonated with his character’s authority. During the trials, Khanna reportedly reflected on his late father, Vinod Khanna, when he saw himself in the mirror, adding a personal touch to his portrayal.
The film also boasts a star-studded cast including Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, R Madhavan, Sara Arjun, and Rakesh Bedi, contributing to its dynamic narrative and overall appeal. With the recent buzz surrounding ‘Dhurandhar,’ it seems poised to capture the hearts of audiences and critics alike both for its captivating storyline and the impressive character transformations that underpin its narrative.
