The Golden State Warriors are optimistic about the potential return of star player Stephen Curry, who is expected to make his comeback from a thigh contusion this Friday night against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Head coach Steve Kerr expressed confidence in Curry’s progress, stating, “It’s looking good.”
Curry has been sidelined for five games, opting to stay in San Francisco during the team’s recent three-game road trip to focus on rest and treatment. His decision was aimed at ensuring he could receive full clearance ahead of Wednesday’s practice. After being cleared, Curry participated fully in all contact portions of the workout and even engaged in a six-minute scrimmage without any issues.
Kerr anticipates that Curry will also practice on Thursday, paving the way for his return to the court. The Warriors recorded a 2-3 record during Curry’s absence but are returning home with renewed momentum after securing victories in their past two games against the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Chicago Bulls over the weekend. Currently, the Warriors hold a 13-12 record and have demonstrated strong defensive capabilities, managing to keep four of their last five opponents under 100 points, which places them among the top teams defensively in the league.
In addition to Curry’s return, the Warriors are hopeful for the return of forward Draymond Green, who missed the last two games due to a foot sprain. Although he was absent from practice on Wednesday for personal reasons, Kerr indicated that Green is expected back in the lineup for Thursday’s practice, potentially ready to face the Timberwolves.
On the other hand, veteran center Al Horford is anticipated to remain out for the time being as he deals with sciatica, limiting his availability for the upcoming match. The Warriors’ ability to bounce back and perform strongly will be crucial as they look to build on their recent success with a full roster.
