Less than a day after Florida State soccer clinched the 2025 national championship, Texas A&M University announced the hiring of Bobby Shuttleworth as its new head coach for the soccer program. This decision follows the retirement of G Guerrieri, who had been the only coach in the history of Texas A&M soccer, announcing his departure on October 28.
Shuttleworth most recently served as the associate head coach on Florida State’s coaching staff, contributing to an impressive overall record of 70 wins, 7 losses, and 12 draws over the last four seasons. This remarkable achievement not only earned the Seminoles a national championship but also secured the highest winning percentage in the nation during that period. Shuttleworth played a pivotal role in guiding Florida State’s undefeated championship-winning team.
Before transitioning into coaching, Shuttleworth had a successful 14-year career as a professional goalkeeper. He concluded his playing days with an impressive tally of 81 wins, 53 clean sheets, and ranks as one of the top goalkeepers in Major League Soccer history, with the 13th-most appearances in the league.
In a press release announcing his hiring, Texas A&M’s Director of Athletics, Trev Alberts, expressed enthusiasm for Shuttleworth’s arrival. “We are very excited to welcome Bobby and his family to Aggieland and have him lead us in this new era of Texas A&M soccer,” Alberts stated. He highlighted Shuttleworth as a proven winner, emphasizing his coaching and playing experience along with his track record of developing talent.
Alberts further noted that Shuttleworth’s strong leadership and competitive vision will be instrumental in navigating the challenges of collegiate soccer.
