In a lighthearted incident caught on video, a 20-month-old toddler from New Mexico demonstrated some impressive stealth by sneaking a sip of his father’s soda while he was out of the room. The clever little boy exhibited a tactic that many adults might envy, as he waited patiently until his chance arose. Thankfully for viewers, his mother was on hand to capture the moment on camera, providing a glimpse into the mischievous antics of young children.

While the toddler’s shenanigans have drawn smiles and laughter, the soda he was eyeing was not just any ordinary beverage. Lemon-lime sodas have been a staple in many households across the country, but one that stands out is the lesser-known Bubble Up. This fizzy drink debuted in 1919, predating the more commercially popular 7UP by a decade. It quickly garnered a following for its distinctive “kiss of lemon, kiss of lime” slogan and nostalgic glass bottle packaging.

Over the years, Bubble Up’s journey has not been without challenges. The brand changed ownership multiple times and even faced bankruptcy. In 2007, the company was acquired by the makers of Dad’s Root Beer, who now produce the soda in limited quantities, making it somewhat of a specialty item in today’s market.

Fans of Bubble Up appreciate its unique flavor profile, which is achieved through the use of pure cane sugar and real lemon and lime oils rather than the more common high-fructose corn syrup and artificial flavors. Reviewers have expressed their admiration for the soda, with some claiming it has a more natural taste compared to competitors like 7UP, noting the absence of any unpleasant aftertaste.

Despite its scarcity, Bubble Up can be found at select grocery stores, through online retailers such as Amazon, and at specialty soda shops. The appeal of the drink has spawned a dedicated fanbase willing to pay a premium, with prices for a single 12-ounce bottle sometimes reaching up to $3.49.

As nostalgia for classic beverages continues to grow, it remains clear that Bubble Up holds a special place in the hearts of many. Its legacy serves as a reminder of simpler times and enduring flavors, appealing to generations who remember its refreshing taste fondly.
