Residents of Greater Cincinnati insured by UnitedHealthcare can breathe a sigh of relief as a new agreement has been reached between TriHealth and UnitedHealthcare. This deal ensures that TriHealth hospitals and physicians will remain in-network for members covered by the health insurance provider, effectively safeguarding their access to care in 2026 and beyond. This agreement encompasses various insurance plans, including UnitedHealthcare Commercial, Medicare Advantage, and Medicaid.
The contract between TriHealth and UnitedHealthcare was on the verge of expiration, with a deadline set for midnight on December 31. Following intensive negotiations that stretched over a year, the two organizations have finally come to terms. TriHealth had previously expressed frustration with what they characterized as a lack of urgency from UnitedHealthcare during the negotiation process.
UnitedHealthcare, on the other hand, pointed to the demands of TriHealth for substantial price increases, which they argued could burden local employers and elevate healthcare costs for families in the region.
In a statement regarding the resolution, TriHealth President and CEO Mark C. Clement expressed gratitude for the new agreement, emphasizing its importance for the approximately 80,000 patients impacted by the negotiations. Clement expressed optimism about the future of the relationship between TriHealth and UnitedHealthcare, noting the collaborative efforts made to reach a mutually acceptable solution.
This development is expected to bring peace of mind to thousands of patients who rely on TriHealth for their healthcare needs, ensuring they don’t have to seek out new providers in the upcoming year.
