United States stock markets will observe adjustments for the Christmas holidays, with an early closure scheduled for Christmas Eve on Wednesday, December 24. Both the Nasdaq and the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) will shut their doors at 1 p.m. ET on that day.
In addition, the U.S. bond markets will also close early on the same day, with a closing time set for 2 p.m. ET. These markets will remain closed for Christmas Day on Thursday, December 25, as confirmed by the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association (SIFMA).
Trading activities will resume on Friday, December 26, after the holiday break. Investors will find that it will be business as usual for the following days until the next scheduled closure, which falls on Thursday, January 1, 2026, in celebration of the New Year.
Looking ahead, the bond markets will once again have an early closure on New Year’s Eve, sporting a closing time of 2 p.m. ET on Wednesday, December 31. Meanwhile, both the Nasdaq and NYSE will continue their regular trading hours on that day.
