In a remarkable display of talent and teamwork, the 15th-ranked Utah football team capped off a stellar 10-2 regular season, highlighted by five consecutive victories. The Utes’ performance was recognized with several prestigious Big 12 Conference awards announced on Thursday.
Key among the honors, offensive tackle Spencer Fano was named the Big 12 Offensive Lineman of the Year and earned a spot on the First Team All-Conference roster. His exceptional play has made him a finalist for the Outland Trophy, further establishing his standing among the nation’s elite offensive linemen.
Quarterback Devon Dampier also made waves, receiving the Offensive Newcomer of the Year accolade and a Third Team All-Conference nod. Dampier’s impactful season included impressive statistics: he threw for 2,180 yards and 22 touchdowns while also rushing for 687 yards and seven additional scores—showcasing his versatility and dual-threat ability.
The Utes showcased depth on both sides of the ball with three players securing First Team All-Big 12 honors. Alongside Fano, offensive tackle Caleb Lomu earned recognition for his outstanding performance, allowing just eight pressures and six hurries without surrendering a sack during 294 pass-blocking opportunities. Defensive end John Henry Daley joined his teammates after an explosive season that saw him tied for the FBS lead with 17.5 tackles for loss (TFL) and ranking second in the nation with 11.5 sacks, despite suffering a season-ending injury on November 22.
In addition, the defense proved formidable with two players named to the Second Team All-Big 12: defensive end Logan Fano and defensive back Smith Snowden. Fano played a critical role on the line, recording 44 tackles, 7.5 TFL, and two passes broken up. Snowden contributed significantly, starting all 12 games and leading the team with nine passes defended while adding 37 tackles.
Utah’s offensive prowess continued to shine through, with running back Wayshawn Parker and tight end Dallen Bentley both earning Third Team All-Conference honors. Parker emerged as a key player in the latter part of the season, achieving four consecutive 100-yard games to finish with 931 rushing yards and six touchdowns. Bentley was second on the team in receptions, with 42 catches for 514 yards and five touchdowns.
Beyond these accolades, Utah received nine honorable mentions. This list included the Joe Moore Award Semifinalist offensive line, featuring center Jaren Kump and guards Michael Mokofisi and Tanoa Togiai. Wide receiver Ryan Davis rounded out the offensive honors. Defensively, linebackers Lander Barton and Johnathan Hall, along with defensive back Jackson Bennee, were recognized. The special teams received appreciation as well, with punt returner Mana Carvalho and specialist Logan Castor among those honored.
