In a heartfelt celebration of service, numerous restaurants across the United States are offering a variety of special deals for Veterans Day on Tuesday, November 11. These promotions are designed to honor veterans and active-duty military personnel for their sacrifices and dedication to the nation.

Veterans Day originated as Armistice Day to commemorate the end of World War I, marked by the signing of an armistice agreement on November 11, 1918. In 1954, after significant advocacy from veterans organizations, Congress officially renamed the holiday to Veterans Day. This federal holiday is observed annually to pay tribute to those who have served in the military.

Many of the food specials for Veterans Day require identification, such as a Veteran ID Card or DD214, to confirm military service. It’s important for patrons to check with their local establishments, as some offers are limited to dining in.

Key offers include Applebee’s, which is providing a free full-sized entrée from a special Veterans Day menu that features popular items like the Classic Bacon Cheeseburger and Double Crunch Shrimp. Additionally, certain locations owned by the Flynn Group are encouraging patrons to buy a pre-paid pint of beer for a veteran, with unclaimed funds benefiting a local veterans charity.

Chipotle is also participating, offering a free second entrée to military personnel who make a purchase between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Veterans Day. Krispy Kreme joins in by providing a free small hot or iced coffee and a doughnut to veterans and active-duty members.

Other notable restaurant deals include:

  • Red Lobster: Free Shrimp & Chips entrée for veterans and active-duty military with proof of service.
  • Starbucks: Free tall brewed coffee for veterans, service members, and military spouses at participating locations.
  • Cracker Barrel: A complimentary Sunrise Pancake Special for military personnel dining in.
  • TGI Fridays: Free meal for veterans from a set menu during dining hours.

A wider array of offerings spans from fast food to fine dining, covering countless chains such as Chili’s, Olive Garden, Buffalo Wild Wings, and more, each with unique deals like complimentary meals or discounts for veterans.

As the nation gears up for this day of recognition, veterans and active-duty personnel are encouraged to take advantage of these generous offers to celebrate their service and enjoy a meal at participating locations.
