Zachary Levi is set to take on the role of host for an upcoming four-part docudrama titled David: King of Israel, which will be available on Fox Nation, the streaming service from Fox News Media. Slated for release in the first quarter of 2026, the series will form part of the platform’s newly launched Fox Faith vertical, which recently introduced the second season of Martin Scorsese Presents: The Saints.
David: King of Israel promises a multifaceted exploration of the historical figure King David, featuring Levi’s narration, reenactments, and insightful commentary. According to a statement from Fox Nation, the docudrama aims to present a “raw, sweeping portrait” of David’s life, highlighting his courage, violence, passion, failures, and eventual redemption.
Lauren Petterson, the president of Fox Nation, expressed her enthusiasm for Levi’s involvement, describing him as a “natural fit” for the series. She emphasized that his sincerity and connection to the material will allow King David’s story to resonate with contemporary audiences. Levi himself shared his perspective, asserting that aside from the account of Christ, the story of David stands out as profoundly powerful in scripture. He remarked on David’s relatable humanity, stating that David’s flaws make his journey resonate even more deeply with modern viewers.
The docudrama is produced by Warm Springs Productions, with key figures including David L. Cunningham, Marc Pierce, Chris Richardson, and Bridger Pierce acting as executive producers.
In addition to his hosting duties, Levi is known for his acting roles, including starring in Shazam! and earning a Tony nomination for She Loves Me. He also received recognition with a SAG Award for his performance in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. Last year, he drew attention for his public support of Donald Trump’s return to the White House.
A recent correction clarified that David: King of Israel will debut in the first quarter of 2026, rather than the initially mentioned fourth quarter.
