Black Friday is once again upon shoppers, with a myriad of enticing deals available across various categories including smartphones, clothing, jewelry, and trending toys. As consumer interest grows, the Black Friday phenomenon has expanded in recent years to encompass Cyber Monday, which follows on the heels of Thanksgiving, as well as Small Business Saturday aimed at promoting local shopping.

This year, Black Friday falls on November 28, and following that, Small Business Saturday will be observed on November 29, with Cyber Monday scheduled for December 1. Notably, many major retailers like Target, Walmart, and Best Buy have committed to closing their doors on Thanksgiving Day, opting instead to open bright and early on Black Friday with a host of discounts and promotions.

Retailers have revealed their operating hours for the much-anticipated shopping event:

  • Walmart will welcome shoppers at 6 a.m. local time, with stores closed on Thanksgiving Day.
  • Target shares the same opening time, kicking off its Black Friday deals at 6 a.m. local time post-Thanksgiving closure.
  • Best Buy is set to open its doors from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Black Friday, maintaining the trend of being closed on Thanksgiving.
  • Kohl’s begins its Black Friday sales early, opening at 5 a.m. local time, and also remaining closed on Thanksgiving.
  • JCPenney will open at 5 a.m. local time, although closing times may differ by location.
  • Nordstrom has adopted a slightly varied schedule, with many locations opening at either 8 a.m. or 9 a.m. and closing between 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. Local stores provide specific hours on their website.
  • American Eagle typically operates from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Black Friday, and stores in Canada remain open on Thanksgiving.
  • Home improvement chains like Home Depot and Lowe’s will be operating their usual hours shortly after 6 a.m. on Black Friday, both closed on Thanksgiving.
  • Outdoor and sporting goods retailers Bass Pro Shop and Cabela’s will welcome customers from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Black Friday.
  • In stark contrast, REI has opted to close for both Thanksgiving and Black Friday.

Several other retailers such as Belk, Burlington, and PetSmart are set to open at various times, typically around 6 a.m. or 7 a.m. on Black Friday, while adhering to their Thanksgiving closures.

For those shopping at specialty stores, operating hours are often dependent on specific locations. For instance, Sephora, Victoria’s Secret, and Barnes & Noble suggest that patrons check their respective websites for accurate Black Friday hours.

Overall, consumers are encouraged to plan their shopping routes in advance and take advantage of holiday deals while adhering to the specific opening hours of their favorite department and specialty stores this Black Friday.
