Eagles in Position to End NFC East Division Title Drought

No team in the NFC East has claimed consecutive division titles since the Philadelphia Eagles achieved the feat in 2004. However, the Eagles’ 2025 roster is positioned to potentially end that 20-year streak. As the NFL heads into Week 15, the Eagles maintain the top spot in the division with an 8-5 record, despite recent struggles evident in their “Monday Night Football” loss.

This season, Philadelphia has faced challenges, particularly on the offensive front and in defensive depth, but they remain in control of their own destiny. The Dallas Cowboys, who were on a three-game winning streak until a setback on “Thursday Night Football,” are lingering just one game behind Philadelphia in the standings, setting the stage for a competitive finish to the season.

After their loss in Week 14, the Eagles still hold a significant playoff chance, with advanced metrics from NFL Next Gen Stats giving them a 93% probability of reaching the postseason. If the playoffs were to begin today, Philadelphia would secure the No. 3 seed in the NFC, trailing only the Los Angeles Rams and Green Bay Packers, who lead their respective divisions.

However, the Eagles are in a worrying spiral, having lost three consecutive games and surpassing 20 points only once in their last five outings. Meanwhile, the Cowboys have found their rhythm, winning three of their last four games, including a crucial victory over the Eagles in Week 12.

Looking ahead, the Eagles’ remaining schedule is viewed as one of the easiest in the league. Their upcoming opponents include the Washington Commanders, who currently sit at the bottom of the division with a 3-10 record, and only one game against a team holding a playoff position. The scheduled games provide the Eagles with an opportunity to solidify their grip on the division title, aiming to become the first team to clinch back-to-back NFC East crowns since their historic run from 2001 to 2004.

Here’s a snapshot of the current NFC East standings:

– Philadelphia Eagles (8-5, 2-2 NFC East)
– Dallas Cowboys (6-6-1, 3-1)
– Washington Commanders (3-10, 1-1)
– New York Giants (2-11, 1-3)

The playoff race in the NFC continues to intensify, with Philadelphia needing to recalibrate their offensive strategy to fend off the resurgent Cowboys and secure their playoff aspirations. As the season hurtles toward its conclusion, the pressure mounts for the Eagles to reclaim their dominance in the division.
