School Districts in the Carolinas Adjust Schedules Due to Incoming Wintry Weather

School districts across the Carolinas are taking proactive measures as winter weather is set to impact the region, leading to adjustments in schedules for Tuesday. In particular, several inches of snow are anticipated to blanket the mountains in Western North Carolina, beginning late Monday night and continuing into Tuesday morning.

As a result of the forecasted adverse conditions, numerous schools in the area have opted for closures, delayed openings, or a shift to remote learning to ensure the safety of students and staff. A comprehensive list detailing school closings and delays is available for parents and guardians to stay informed.

In addition to the snowfall, temperatures are expected to drop significantly across the Carolinas overnight, with the Charlotte region experiencing a rainy Monday. This wet weather is likely to contribute to hazardous driving conditions on Tuesday morning, as roadways may become slick. The forecast indicates that temperatures in the Charlotte area could fall into the low 20s, while regions further west may see temperatures drop into the teens.

Winter weather advisories have been issued for Ashe and Avery counties, remaining in effect until 1 a.m. on Tuesday. Residents are encouraged to take caution as they navigate the icy conditions, and those who need updates on the evolving weather situation can access the latest forecasts through various local news sources.
