Netflix Adds 20 New Shows and Movies This Week, Including "Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery"

In a significant update for streaming enthusiasts, Netflix is set to roll out 20 new titles this week, adding a mix of original content, classic series, and intriguing films to its ever-expanding library. While fans are still eagerly anticipating the addition of the entire HBO Max library, Netflix’s recent acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery signals exciting changes may be on the horizon.

Kicking off this week’s highlights is “Wake Up Dead Man,” the third installment in the Knives Out franchise, premiering on December 12. This film features the return of Daniel Craig as the iconic detective Benoit Blanc, who finds himself embroiled in a mysterious murder case at an upstate New York church. Early reviews praise the film, with a standout cast that includes Josh Brolin, Kerry Washington, and Glenn Close. Viewers need not have seen the previous two films to enjoy this new tale, which promises a captivating blend of intrigue and humor.

Another noteworthy addition is “Man Vs Baby,” set to debut on December 11. This four-episode series stars Rowan Atkinson as Trevor Bingley, a school caretaker thrust into an unexpected role caring for a baby during the Christmas season. Fans of Atkinson’s signature comedic style are sure to find this light-hearted series enjoyable.

In the realm of reality TV, “Simon Cowell: The Next Act” launches on December 10. The music mogul returns to the small screen, searching for the next big boy band. This docu-series will provide an unfiltered look into Cowell’s creative process, showcasing casting calls and the journey of aspiring musicians.

For those interested in classic television, all seven seasons of “The West Wing” will become available on December 9. This acclaimed political drama, centered around the fictional administration of President Josiah Bartlet, has garnered a dedicated fanbase over the years and is worth streaming for both new viewers and long-time fans alike.

The film roster also includes “The Talented Mr. Ripley,” a gripping psychological thriller featuring Matt Damon, which will be available on December 13. Adapted from Patricia Highsmith’s novel, the film delves into themes of identity and obsession as the character Tom Ripley navigates the glamorous life of another man.

International offerings are plentiful, with titles like the Spanish thriller “City of Shadows,” launching on December 12. This film weaves a dark narrative involving a burned body found at a renowned landmark in Barcelona, as a disgraced detective returns to solve the case.

For families, “Elmo and Mark Rober’s Merry Giftmas” is already available, featuring beloved characters from “Sesame Street” as they embark on a festive adventure with the renowned YouTuber and former NASA engineer Mark Rober.

As Netflix expands its catalog, viewers will also need to note which titles are leaving the platform this week, including fan favorites like “Daddy’s Home” and its sequel.

This infusion of new content is poised to keep subscribers entertained as they settle in for the holiday season. Whether you’re a fan of thrillers, comedies, or classic dramas, Netflix’s latest offerings cater to diverse tastes, ensuring there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
