Kirby Moore Set to Become Head Football Coach at Washington State

Missouri’s offensive coordinator, Kirby Moore, is reportedly on the verge of being named the new head football coach at Washington State, as indicated by On3’s Pete Nakos. This potential appointment marks a significant return for Moore, a native of Prosser, Washington, who previously played as a receiver at Boise State.

At just 35 years old, Moore has made considerable strides in his coaching career. He has just completed his third season directing the Tigers’ offense, which notably ranked sixth in the Southeastern Conference (SEC) for both total offense and scoring offense. The Missouri offense averaged impressive statistics, boasting 429.3 yards and 32.2 points per game throughout the 2025 season.

Moore’s journey into coaching began shortly after his collegiate playing days, having completed a five-year stint at Boise State (2009-2013). He kicked off his coaching career at the College of Idaho in 2014 before taking on a role as a graduate assistant at the University of Washington from 2015 to 2016. Following that, Moore spent six seasons at Fresno State, initially serving as the receivers coach and later moving up to offensive coordinator in 2022 after Kalen DeBoer transitioned to head coach at Washington. In early 2023, he made the leap to the SEC, accepting the position of offensive coordinator at Missouri, where his salary reportedly rose to $1.5 million ahead of the 2024 season.

During his time as a player at Boise State, Moore had a notable collegiate career, finishing with a total of 115 receptions, 1,137 receiving yards, and six touchdowns across 45 games.

As the news develops, further updates regarding Moore’s potential hiring at Washington State are anticipated.
