Arkansas and Texas Tech Set to Renew Rivalry in "Revocruit Rematch" at American Airlines Center

In an exciting rematch of last year’s Sweet 16 showdown, the #17 Arkansas Razorbacks (7-2) will face off against the #16 Texas Tech Red Raiders (7-2) in the Revocruit Rematch this Saturday, December 13, at 11:00 am CT. The game is set to take place at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas, a venue familiar to both teams.

This matchup marks a significant rivalry between Arkansas and Texas Tech, two former Southwest Conference foes. Historically, the Red Raiders lead the series with a record of 41-40, bolstered by their overtime victory in last year’s NCAA tournament matchup. However, Arkansas holds a win under the same roof—defeating Texas Tech 78-65 during the O’Reilly Christmas Classic in 2005.

Arkansas has a mixed record in Dallas overall, but they have etched a solid history in the city, having won four Southwest Conference Tournament titles at Reunion Arena in the 1980s and early 90s. The Razorbacks are 24-14 in Dallas but are slightly behind with a 2-3 record at the American Airlines Center.

In preparation for this high-stakes rematch, the Razorbacks have seen impressive individual performances. Sophomore Karter Knox has started the season strong, leading the team in both three-point shooting percentage at 50% and free throw shooting at nearly 86%. Knox is also averaging 5.5 rebounds per game and has recorded two double-doubles in just nine games. Freshman Darius Acuff Jr. has emerged as a playmaker, racking up 18 assists over the past two games, soaring to 41st in the NCAA for assists per game, making him one of the top freshmen in the nation in this category.

Recent victories have positively impacted Arkansas’ standing, moving from 45th to 23rd in the NCAA NET rankings. The team’s defensive prowess is also noteworthy; they have limited opponents to a combined 19% shooting from beyond the arc in their last two outings, resulting in a significant jump in their three-point field goal percentage defense ranking from 114th to 28th.

As the Razorbacks prepare to face Texas Tech, they will look to capitalize on their fast-break offense, averaging 22.2 points per game in that category, significantly outpacing their opponents.

Fans wanting to follow the game can tune in via ESPN2 or stream it on Watch ESPN, while radio coverage will be provided by the Learfield Razorback Sports Network. Following this key matchup, the Razorbacks will return to Bud Walton Arena to host Queens on December 16, extending their competitive stretch into the season.
