Seoul Fintech Lab has announced the initiation of a new three-month program designed to transform innovative digital asset ideas into viable businesses. The initiative, titled the Korea Financial Innovation Program 2026, will provide substantial funding opportunities and hands-on support, particularly leveraging the capabilities of the XRP Ledger (XRPL) ecosystem.

This program, unveiled by the city-backed fintech incubator on Tuesday, focuses on comprehensive support for participants. It includes business consulting, legal advisory services, and networking opportunities with various industry partners. Additional benefits encompass potential investment reviews and incubation processes available at the lab itself.

The Korea Financial Innovation Program 2026 is prominently sponsored by the San Francisco-based fintech company Ripple, with collaborative participation from entities such as Industrial Bank of Korea, Hana Bank, Toss, DB Insurance, and the Korea Fintech Industry Association.

Applications for the program commenced on April 1 and will remain open until May 6, targeting individuals and teams with business concepts that utilize XRPL-powered digital asset services. Following a document screening phase scheduled to conclude on May 13, twelve teams will be selected to progress to the final pitch event on June 25.

Participants will gain exclusive access to a platform that offers XRPL onboarding materials, market insights, and regulatory updates, complemented by one-on-one consulting sessions. The program will distribute a total of 32 million won (approximately $21,000) in prize money; this includes 5 million won allocated for the grand prize winner, along with 3 million won for the second place and 2 million won for the third place. Additionally, special awards of 1 million won each will be presented by Toss and the Korea Fintech Industry Association.

An official from Seoul Fintech Lab emphasized that the program seeks to identify promising digital asset business concepts associated with the global blockchain ecosystem and provide participants with the necessary support to transform these ideas into functional services.

Christina Chan, the senior ecosystem growth director at Ripple, expressed her optimism for ongoing collaborations with Korea, highlighting its significance as a critical market for the company. “We are excited to support the next generation of innovators building on XRPL through this program,” said Chan, noting that the initiative underscores Ripple’s long-term dedication to nurturing an ecosystem where developers and startups can thrive.

Seoul Fintech Lab, established in 2018 by the Seoul Metropolitan Government, continues to serve as a vital support hub for fintech companies, fostering innovation and growth within the sector.
