In a significant development within the financial technology landscape, SIX has announced its integration with Chainlink, marking the first time equities data from SIX’s exchanges will be accessible on-chain through the institutional-grade data publishing service, DataLink. This collaboration aims to enhance the distribution and utility of equities data from both the SIX Swiss Exchange and the BME Exchange, which collectively hold a market value exceeding €2 trillion.
The integration allows this valuable data to be connected to over 2,600 applications within the Chainlink ecosystem, spanning more than 75 public and private blockchains. This landmark move is set to expedite the availability of on-chain equities data and unlock a variety of innovative use cases, including tokenized indices, structured financial products, compliant decentralized finance (DeFi) applications, and novel trading primitives.
Matthew Nurse, head of market data at SIX, emphasized the significance of this collaboration, stating, “Through this integration with Chainlink’s institutional-grade data publishing service, SIX delivers real-time, high-value market data while bringing flagship Swiss and Spanish blue-chip equities on-chain via Chainlink’s DataLink.” He noted that the integration will enable digital asset applications to access trusted market data through a secure and proven infrastructure, thereby fostering trust and innovation within global financial ecosystems.
Clients will now benefit from the ability to access equities data at scale from the SIX Exchanges within standardized smart contract environments. Chainlink’s DataLink offers a reliable pathway for prominent data providers like SIX to commercialize high-quality market data on-chain. This pathway is designed to maintain the integrity, entitlements, and distribution controls essential for regulated financial institutions. Fernando Vázquez, president of capital markets at Chainlink Labs, remarked on the importance of this development, stating, “This is how the largest data providers and financial institutions in the world connect premium market data seamlessly to both public and private blockchains via Chainlink’s industry-standard infrastructure.”
With this integration, SIX and Chainlink are poised to reshape the landscape of financial data accessibility and application, paving the way for novel solutions and expanded opportunities in the ever-evolving digital economy.
