The Bitcoin Open, a unique fusion of golf and poker, is set to take place on June 8, 2026, at the iconic Glen Abbey Golf Club in Oakville, Ontario. This year holds special significance as it marks the 50th anniversary of the club, which has been a pillar of Canadian golfing since its establishment in 1976. Designed by the legendary Jack Nicklaus, Glen Abbey has hosted the Canadian Open multiple times and is recognized for its championship-level layout and rich history within the sport.

Located roughly 30 minutes west of Toronto, Glen Abbey serves as a public facility and has built a significant legacy in the realm of Canadian sports. The Bitcoin Open will feature a day-long scramble-format golf tournament on Glen Abbey’s main championship course, followed by an evening Texas Hold’em poker tournament. The golf competition will follow a team scramble format, typically involving groups of four players. With a limited field size, organizers have noted a strong demand for spots, particularly as mid-May approaches and fewer team openings remain.

The stakes are high, with prizes including two hole-in-one awards—each consisting of one Bitcoin. Additional prizes for golfers will reward participants for achievements like the longest drive and closest to the pin. Winners of the golf tournament will also be awarded tickets to the 2027 Bitcoin Golf Championship in Nashville, Tennessee, which precedes the highly anticipated 2027 Bitcoin Conference. For the poker tournament victor, the prize is a cash equivalent of $5,000 CAD in stablecoins.

A diverse array of sponsors has enthusiastically gotten involved, including notable names such as APX Lending, Tetra Digital Group, The Canadian Bitcoin Conference, and Satstreet, among others. Bitcoin Sports Network, known for organizing Bitcoin-themed sports and lifestyle events, is the primary organizer of The Bitcoin Open, with Satstreet serving as a co-host and sponsor.

Open to individuals from the Bitcoin community—including builders, investors, and enthusiasts—registration is available through the official event website, with tickets covering both the golf and poker components. The schedule promises a well-rounded experience with a variety of on-course activities, meals, and networking opportunities throughout the day.

This marks the inaugural hosting of The Bitcoin Open at Glen Abbey, a venue that has previously featured Bitcoin Sports Network tournaments in locations such as Las Vegas, typically aligned with larger Bitcoin conferences. This Canadian edition stands out as a standalone event in the Toronto area, and the club’s 50th milestone adds a richer backdrop to the gathering. Glen Abbey has been integral to the development of Canadian golf, serving as a training ground for professionals and hosting numerous amateur and expert competitions since its opening.
