GMC has introduced the highly anticipated 2027 Sierra 1500, set to hit the market later this year. This updated model showcases a complete redesign, including a refreshed exterior and an enhanced interior, along with the addition of two new V8 engine options.
As part of its unveiling, the Sierra 1500 will now feature General Motors’ new small block engines. Although full specifications for the 5.7-liter and 6.6-liter V8 engines have yet to be disclosed, expectations suggest that the larger engine could produce power in the mid- to high-400-horsepower range. The truck will also continue to offer the TurboMax four-cylinder as well as the Duramax diesel V6 engines, all paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. The engine lineup will include:
– Turbocharged 2.7-Liter Inline-Four
– Turbocharged 3.0-Liter Duramax V6
– 5.7-Liter V8
– 6.6-Liter V8
Drawing inspiration from the Sierra EV, the exterior of the 2027 Sierra 1500 features a more vertical grille and updated headlights, with unique front-end designs tailored for each trim. Inside, GMC has focused on technology, providing up to three screens on the dashboard. Notably, the 16.3-inch infotainment display can articulate to reveal a storage compartment, and an 11.5-inch front passenger screen can transform from a full display to a slim screen for convenience.
GMC will offer the 2027 Sierra 1500 in four distinct trims: Pro, Elevation, AT4, and Denali. While detailed specifications are still forthcoming, the off-road-oriented AT4X trim stands out with its 35-inch Goodyear Wrangler Territory MT tires and enhanced suspension features. Visual highlights include an exclusive hood design, a 2.0-inch suspension lift, and a rugged front bumper, all designed to enhance its aggressive appearance.
Flagship model the Sierra Denali Ultimate will sport the 6.6-liter V8 engine and will be distinguished by a lavish interior that includes more than 60 inches of in-cabin screens. It boasts an articulating infotainment display, a 12.2-inch driver display, and a 15.0-inch head-up display, complemented by an 8.5-inch digital rearview mirror. The Denali Ultimate also features a premium audio system and a three-year subscription to GMC’s Super Cruise technology.
As for pricing, GMC plans to disclose details closer to the sales launch. Currently, the 2026 Sierra starts at $41,095, including destination fees, while the Sierra AT4X and Denali Ultimate are priced in the mid-$80,000 range. Projections suggest that prices for the 2027 model may see an upward adjustment.
With a clear focus on technological advancements and premium features, the new Sierra 1500 sets itself apart from its competitors, particularly the recently unveiled Chevrolet Silverado 1500. GMC’s innovative articulating displays enhance both functionality and user experience, aligning with the brand’s commitment to modernizing its vehicle lineup.
