Alaska Airlines has announced that it is in the process of restoring operations following a significant technology outage that disrupted flights across all airports on Thursday evening. The issue not only affected Alaska Airlines but also its subsidiary, Horizon Air, as indicated by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) advisory. The airline implemented a ground stop that lasted nearly three hours.

In a communication posted on social media platform X, Alaska Airlines acknowledged that the IT outage had resulted in the cancellation of several flights, both for the current night and into the following day. They confirmed that their team was working diligently to resolve the ongoing issues.

The outage, which led to a temporary suspension of all flights, marks a reoccurrence of similar disruptions the airline faced in July, when operations were halted for about three hours due to an IT problem.

In response to customer inquiries and concerns aired on social media, the airline addressed the public by stating, “Unfortunately, we are experiencing an error on our system, but our IT team is working to get this resolved as soon as possible.” This reassurance was given to various users who reported difficulties with the airline’s app and website booking functionalities.

Alaska Airlines’ quick acknowledgment and communication during the incident highlight the importance of transparency and responsiveness in maintaining customer trust, especially during operational disruptions. As efforts continue to restore full service, passengers are advised to keep abreast of updates regarding their flights.
