American Airlines has introduced a new mid-tier credit card, the Citi/AAdvantage Globe Mastercard, aimed at providing enhanced benefits for travelers. This card comes with an annual fee of $350 and is designed to bridge the gap between the airline’s more affordable Platinum Select card and its premium Executive Platinum card.
The Citi/AAdvantage Globe Mastercard offers a range of attractive perks, including lounge access, preferred boarding, and the option for one free checked bag. Additionally, cardholders can receive up to $120 in credit applicable toward Global Entry or TSA Precheck applications, making the travel experience smoother and more efficient.
Scott Long, American Airlines’ senior vice president of AAdvantage, emphasized the company’s strategy to appeal to a wider customer base. He remarked that the new card targets both leisure travelers looking for decent benefits and more frequent flyers who desire additional perks without the higher price of the Executive Platinum card.
This launch comes at a time when airlines are increasingly focused on enhancing loyalty programs and credit card offerings to capture the interest of diverse travel demographics. The Citi/AAdvantage Globe Mastercard is positioned as a compelling option for those seeking substantial rewards and convenience while on the road.
