A significant incident unfolded at Detroit Metro Airport’s McNamara terminal on Friday night when a car crashed through the glass check-in doors of the Delta Airlines area. The collision occurred around 7:30 PM, resulting in injuries to six individuals and prompting an immediate response from emergency services.
The Wayne County Airport Authority confirmed that airport police are currently investigating the situation. According to their statement, the car impacted a ticket counter, and the driver has been taken into custody. However, the motivations behind the crash remain unclear at this time.
Emergency personnel, including the WCAA Fire Department, provided on-site treatment to the injured parties. Videos emerging on social media captured the dramatic scenes inside the terminal, with one clip displaying the vehicle inside the check-in area. Another video depicted a man being forcibly removed by airport officials from the vicinity of the crash; it has not yet been clarified whether he was the driver involved in the incident.
