Dogecoin holders are celebrating a significant leap forward in the integration of cryptocurrency into everyday commerce, thanks to a new partnership between House of Doge and MoonPay. This collaboration enables native $DOGE payments at over 6,000 merchants through MoonPay Commerce. In addition, the companies have unveiled a dedicated checkout platform named ÐOGE Pay, specifically tailored for Dogecoin transactions.
This initiative greatly enhances the real-world applicability of Dogecoin, positioning it as one of the largest merchant acceptance movements in the token’s history. While Dogecoin has long been established as one of the most recognizable cryptocurrency assets, actual use of the coin for payments has lagged behind trading and holding.
With MoonPay Commerce, businesses can now accept Dogecoin payments across various environments, including online, mobile, and point-of-sale, without exposing themselves to the often volatile cryptocurrency market. Instead, these merchants can settle transactions in fiat or stablecoins, effectively mitigating exposure to price fluctuations associated with cryptocurrencies.
Current clients using MoonPay Commerce include notable names like Shopify, Fortune Media, and Dorsia, showcasing the platform’s capability and trust within the merchant community.
Additionally, the upcoming ÐOGE Pay platform is set to launch in the third quarter, providing businesses with an even more streamlined way to accept $DOGE payments. With a user-friendly onboarding process and a competitive processing fee of just 1%, the new solution aims to reduce barriers for both merchants and consumers.
Marco Margiotta, CEO of House of Doge, emphasized the original intent behind Dogecoin: “Dogecoin was created to function as a currency for the people.” He highlighted that this collaboration with MoonPay aims to embed Dogecoin acceptance into the foundational structures of merchants worldwide. By minimizing friction at the point of sale, the initiative seeks to fast-track Dogecoin’s transition into a mainstream payment option.
Keith Grossman, President of MoonPay, echoed this sentiment, noting that the partnership aims to unlock spending opportunities for the expansive and passionate Dogecoin community. He pointed out that while Dogecoin enjoys a strong following, the necessary infrastructure to support real-world transactions has been lacking. By integrating native Dogecoin support into MoonPay Commerce and collaborating on ÐOGE Pay, the initiative hopes to create a direct link between merchants and the millions of Dogecoin holders eager to use their assets in daily transactions.
As competition among cryptocurrency payment providers intensifies, this partnership signifies a broader trend in the industry: the next phase of adoption may increasingly depend on facilitating real-world transactions rather than merely driving trading activity. This shift could usher in a new era for Dogecoin and potentially redefine its role in the cryptocurrency landscape.
