Hollywood.com is set to revolutionize the entertainment industry by partnering with crypto exchange Crypto.com to launch entertainment-focused prediction markets. This initiative aims to engage fans by allowing them to speculate on outcomes related to film, television, music, and various awards. The new platform will utilize event contracts provided by Crypto.com Derivatives North America, which is a registered exchange and clearinghouse under the CFTC, ensuring a federally compliant framework for users.
Through this collaboration, Hollywood.com will promote its new offering across its platform, enabling users to trade their predictions on a wide range of entertainment events, from movies to Broadway performances. Live updates on prices will allow for immediate reactions to the latest developments in the industry, fostering an interactive experience for fans.
Mitchell Rubenstein, co-CEO of Hollywood.com, expressed excitement about the venture, highlighting the growing interest in prediction markets and emphasizing how this platform will empower fans to predict critical moments in entertainment history. “Imagine predicting reality show and award show winners or whether a musical artist will reach #1 on the charts—we’re giving fans a voice,” he stated.
This move comes on the heels of a trend in prediction markets that has seen significant growth, particularly following last year’s popularity of platforms like Polymarket, especially during the U.S. presidential election. Several other platforms, including Kalshi, have also emerged, raising funds at valuations in the billions, with trading volumes hitting record highs.
In a parallel development, Crypto.com is collaborating with Trump Media & Technology Group to launch the Truth Predict platform, which will operate alongside the Truth Social platform. This marks an expansion of the partnership beyond previous initiatives such as crypto ETFs.
Hollywood.com’s announcement follows the recent launch of MoviePass’s beta version of its box office prediction platform, Mogul, which is still in its early stages with no real-money betting available at this time, offering a more game-like experience for participants.
The convergence of entertainment and cryptocurrency through prediction markets marks a significant shift in how fans interact with their favorite industries, signaling a new era of engagement and speculation in Hollywood and beyond.
