Joy Taylor recently opened up about her experiences with dating during the COVID-19 quarantine in Los Angeles on a recent episode of her podcast, “Two Personal Show.” The sports reporter candidly shared how she turned to dating apps while seeking connection during a challenging and isolating period.
At the outset of the episode, Taylor reflected on her initial hesitations regarding joining Raya, an exclusive dating platform. However, she ultimately succumbed to curiosity and the need for companionship, humorously admitting, “I was trying anything.” She described herself as feeling particularly needy during the lockdown, jokingly referring to it as a time when she was a “horny bastard.”
Taylor recounted how she learned about Raya after an actress discussed her positive experiences with the app. Nonetheless, she was clear about her boundaries when dating, stating she wasn’t interested in “climbing mountains” or participating in elaborate activities with potential matches as a means of connection.
One individual she met on Raya was a Black man, and they dated for four months. Describing him as “really nice,” Taylor noted that there was a particular aspect of their relationship that raised some red flags for her: the man wore a device akin to a smartwatch during their intimate moments. “I couldn’t do it,” she remarked, asserting her insistence that he remove the device. “Take that shit off. You’re not counting these calories,” she quipped, revealing how it made her uncomfortable. Although she never voiced her concerns at the time, Taylor now thinks of it as a “solvable ick.”
The conversation also highlighted Taylor’s broader reflections on relationships and family dynamics. Not long ago, she made headlines for her forthright views on fathers who regard children as their legacy. “I think it’s great to want a family…but if you’re just making children to keep your genes alive because you think you’re special, it’s fucking nuts,” she expressed. This candid perspective demonstrates her commitment to authenticity and her willingness to address controversial topics in her discussions.
Through her podcast, Taylor continues to provide insights into her personal life and thoughts on modern relationships, resonating with many listeners navigating the complexities of dating in today’s world.
