Crypto payments firm MoonPay has made a strategic move by acquiring Entendre, a company specializing in AI-based accounting software designed for stablecoin payment systems and fintech enterprises. This acquisition aims to enhance MoonPay’s back-office financial processes, including areas such as reconciliation, treasury management, and period-end closing.
Entendre’s software is touted for its capacity to automate financial operations, particularly beneficial for organizations dealing with high transaction volumes, multiple legal entities, and multi-currency activities. Among its clientele are notable names like Polygon Labs, Thirdweb, Brale, Babylon Labs, Ostium, Courtyard, and DoubleZero. The software reportedly enables these organizations to manage over 30 financial accounts and carry out approximately 25,000 transactions each month across at least three legal entities.
Kareem Khattab, the founder of Entendre, will step into the role of vice president of Applied AI at MoonPay. Khattab emphasized the importance of serving the accounting sector, particularly in connection with the burgeoning stablecoin and AI economy. He stated, “We built Entendre to let AI agents own the full accounting workflow from transaction to ledger.” He expressed confidence that the combination of Entendre’s capabilities with MoonPay’s initiatives in commerce and payment solutions will streamline back-office operations to match the speed of transactions.
The software operates through agents that evaluate various model providers for specific accounting tasks, ensuring that each job is assigned to the most suited model. Moreover, Entendre’s platform integrates seamlessly with existing finance and workplace systems, supporting general ledgers like NetSuite, QuickBooks, Xero, and DualEntry. It also interacts with spend and revenue platforms such as Ramp and Stripe, as well as digital asset infrastructures including stablecoin cards and banking options like Rain, Meow, and Slash. Additionally, it features compatibility with workplace tools like Slack and Gmail and supports MCP servers for linking accounting agents to customized tools and data sources.
With the immediate integration of Entendre’s platform and staff into MoonPay, the acquisition reflects MoonPay’s ongoing strategy to solidify its position within the digital money infrastructure landscape. CEO and co-founder Ivan Soto-Wright commented on the evolution of financial systems, stating, “Legacy software was built for manual workflows. The next financial system will be coordinated by humans and agents.” He emphasized that to facilitate the large-scale adoption of stablecoins, finance operations must possess the same level of efficiency, contextual understanding, and automation as the transaction processes themselves.
This acquisition follows MoonPay’s earlier purchase of Sodot, a key management company that has secured transactions exceeding $50 billion, pointing to the firm’s aggressive expansion in the digital payments arena.
