MoonPay has officially unveiled MoonPay Commerce, a comprehensive cryptocurrency payments platform that leverages technology from its recent acquisition of Helio. This announcement was made in a press release on Thursday, detailing the integration of Helio’s checkout tools into the MoonPay brand. The launch aims to provide merchants, creators, and developers with a streamlined method for accepting cryptocurrency payments on a global scale.
Currently, over 6,000 businesses have adopted the MoonPay Commerce platform, with high-profile users including Shopify, The Solana Foundation, Ledger, and CoinMarketCap. A notable feature of the platform is its capability to power Solana Pay for Shopify, facilitating instant and cost-effective cryptocurrency payments during the checkout process.
MoonPay Commerce is designed to expedite setups for checkouts, subscriptions, and deposits, allowing merchants to establish these in just minutes. Features include plug-and-play widgets, pay links, and card-to-crypto conversion, aimed at enhancing user experience. Developers benefit from robust APIs and SDKs that support customized integrations, while additional built-in tools such as affiliate tracking, wallet-splitting, and gated memberships are included to promote user engagement.
The platform supports leading cryptocurrencies, including USDC, USDT, ETH, SOL, and BTC. It boasts low transaction fees, eliminates chargebacks, and provides options for fiat settlements. For users currently utilizing Helio, the transition to MoonPay Commerce will occur automatically, and the service is already accessible worldwide.
In another strategic move, MoonPay recently acquired payments startup Meso in September, although the financial specifics of this acquisition have yet to be disclosed.
