Customers of M&T Bank faced significant disruptions on Friday morning as they encountered difficulties accessing their accounts and receiving direct deposits. The bank acknowledged the issues through a spokesperson’s post on social media, noting that various platforms, particularly the mobile service, were affected. The spokesperson assured customers that the technology teams were diligently working to resolve the situation.
As the morning progressed, outage tracking website Downdetector recorded a spike in reports, peaking at over 2,100 issues logged around 9 a.m. Although the volume of reports began to decrease in the subsequent hours, it remained elevated, holding steady between 300 and 400 reports from noon until 2 p.m.
Many customers took to M&T Bank’s Facebook page to voice their frustrations, indicating that they had not received expected direct deposits. This disruption affected a notable segment of the customer base, which includes approximately 500,000 clients spread across 156 M&T Bank branches and ATMs in Connecticut.
As the situation unfolded, affected customers expressed their concerns about the reliability of banking services, highlighting the impact such outages can have on daily financial activities. The bank has not provided an estimated timeframe for the full restoration of service, but those affected remain hopeful for a swift resolution.
