A new documentary is currently in production, focused on the complexities of Bitcoin’s four-year cycle, highlighting the journey of David Bailey—the founder of BTC Inc. and chairman and CEO of Nakamoto Inc. This project, tentatively titled “This Time Is Different,” is under the direction of filmmaker Parker Worthington, who describes it as exploring one of the most critical phases in Bitcoin’s history.
During the Bitcoin Magazine live desk session at the Bitcoin 2026 Conference, Worthington shared insights into the documentary’s development. Initially aimed at examining Bitcoin payments, the scope widened significantly as Worthington made several trips to film Bailey’s team, beginning in Puerto Rico. These visits coincided with preliminary talks about taking a company public, discussions that were initially held quietly but evolved into a pivotal storyline for the film.
The public launch of Nakamoto Inc., which was executed through a reverse merger with KindlyMD, marked a significant milestone in the narrative. This transaction was notable for its capital raise of approximately $710 million, positioning it among the largest PIPE financings ever linked to a digital asset firm. The documentary aims to encapsulate the various phases of a four-year cycle, portraying the triumphs and setbacks associated with launching a public Bitcoin company. Notably, it will delve into the regulatory challenges posed by SEC obligations and the resilience needed to navigate a bear market while executing a multi-entity consolidation strategy.
Bailey noted the documentary’s significance in illustrating the raw passion and determination involved in the Bitcoin sector. He expressed gratitude that the cameras were able to capture the true essence of the efforts that go into this business, countering the narrative that success in Bitcoin is merely a matter of luck. The documentary represents a more nuanced, intricate story than what might be perceived through stock market indicators alone, showcasing Bitcoin Magazine, UTXO Management, BTC Inc., and Nakamoto’s intertwined business interests and revenue streams.
While a release window of winter 2027 has been suggested, there is a possibility that it could extend into 2028, depending on the current state of the crypto market cycle. The team envisions a feature-length film, initially considering it as a standalone project before potentially exploring a series format for broader distribution. Bitcoin Magazine, which is a publication of BTC Inc., is part of the broader initiatives funded and facilitated through Nakamoto Inc.
