In a significant move for decentralized finance (DeFi), OKX has announced the integration of Chainlink Data Streams on the mainnet of X Layer. This development aims to enhance real-time market data infrastructure, providing developers with the necessary tools to build innovative DeFi applications. The integration is expected to bolster support for tokenized real-world assets, AI-powered trading systems, and derivatives platforms by offering fast, on-demand price feeds.
One of the standout features of Chainlink Data Streams is its ability to deliver current pricing information at the precise moment transactions are executed, unlike traditional oracle systems that offer data updates at fixed intervals. As a result, developers on the X Layer platform can now access real-time pricing for major U.S. stocks such as Tesla, Nvidia, and Apple, along with tokenized Treasury assets and commodities including gold and silver. This advancement significantly enhances the capability of DeFi protocols to directly integrate real-world financial markets into onchain applications.
OKX emphasized that this new infrastructure can dramatically improve capital efficiency for perpetual and derivatives protocols. It is designed to enhance the autonomous decision-making capabilities of AI trading agents and facilitate various functions related to collateral valuation, yield calculations, and automated portfolio management for real-world asset applications.
Adding to its credibility, Chainlink has processed over $30 trillion in transaction value and currently secures more than 70% of DeFi protocols. The inclusion of X Layer in the Chainlink Scale program underscores its commitment to developing a sustainable oracle infrastructure, paving the way for future innovations in the DeFi space.
