The Amazon NFT project, spearheaded by CO2LAB+ LTDA in Pará, is recognized as one of the most significant cultural funding endeavors within the Projet Rouanet Juventude. This program targets youth-led projects in Brazil’s North, Northeast, and Central-West regions, aiming to empower local residents aged 15 to 29. It is one of 32 selected projects slated to share at least R$1.5 million across different regions.
Aiming for Cultural Democratization
The Rouanet Youth program is designed to democratize access to cultural funding, particularly in historically underserved locations. Henilton Menezes, the Secretary of Cultural Promotion and Incentive, underlined the initiative’s goal of directing resources into areas that have traditionally received minimal investment in cultural activities. He emphasized its potential to nurture new cultural agents and create training opportunities for youth.
In a collaboration intended to amplify cultural sponsorship, Shell Brasil has joined forces with MinC to further this cultural agenda. Glauco Paiva, the Executive Communications Manager at Shell Brazil, remarked on the significance of culture in enriching lives. He stated that Shell’s investments aim to broaden access and opportunities for young talent across various Brazilian regions.
Rigorous Evaluation Process
The classification of proposed projects is conducted by an interdisciplinary committee that assesses multiple criteria, including geographic relevance, innovation, societal contribution, and alignment with Shell’s brand strategy. Proposals achieving a certain score are moved to subsequent evaluation stages. The Amazon NFT project faces this meticulous scrutiny, especially given the history of its predecessor, which was the subject of a federal investigation due to allegations of investor fraud.
