S.T. Dupont has unveiled its latest innovation in the lighter market with the introduction of the Défi Windproof. This new product uniquely combines a torch flame and a soft flame in a way that deviates from the traditional approach the company has taken in the past.
The Défi Windproof is engineered to activate both flame types simultaneously, featuring a torch flame nestled within a broader soft flame. This design seeks to enhance the lighting experience, especially for cigar enthusiasts, by ensuring a more even lighting across the foot of a cigar while addressing a common drawback of soft flames: their susceptibility to being extinguished in windy conditions.
Unlike other models such as the S.T. Dupont Le Grand Dupont, which allows users to operate the torch and soft flame independently, the Défi Windproof simplifies the experience by igniting both flame types at once without the option to switch one off.
S.T. Dupont is offering the Défi Windproof in three elegant color options, each priced at $395:
- Défi Windproof Black
- Défi Windproof Chrome
- Défi Windproof Copper
When Coles of London, the American distributor for S.T. Dupont, announced this new lighter in late July, it initially carried a suggested retail price of $445. This model replaces the previous Défi Soft Flame, a version dedicated solely to soft flames that was launched in 2022. The company will continue to offer torch-only Défi models, available in both single and dual-flame configurations.
