Strategy Inc. (MSTR), under the leadership of Executive Chairman Michael Saylor, is highlighted by BTIG analyst Andrew Harte as a compelling investment in Bitcoin despite a recent cut in the stock’s price target from $700 to $630. Harte maintained a Buy rating and emphasized that the stock continues to present significant upside potential for investors who believe in the long-term growth of Bitcoin.
During the recent Q3 earnings call, Saylor outlined the development of what he termed a “credit factory,” which introduces a range of products allowing investors to select varied levels of Bitcoin exposure. This innovative approach now includes four preferred equity offerings, each catering to different risk-return balances for investors. Harte noted that this effectively establishes a Bitcoin yield curve, enabling more personalized investment strategies.
The company’s Q3 earnings report exceeded analysts’ expectations, showcasing strong results fueled by impressive gains from its Bitcoin holdings and increased revenue from its core operations. The earnings per share reached $8.42, surpassing estimates of $7.90, while total revenue stood at $128.7 million, exceeding forecasts of $116.35 million. Notably, Strategy Inc. now holds approximately 640,808 BTC, valued at around $70.9 billion based on current market prices, with an average purchase cost of $74,032 per coin.
In a bid to attract further investor interest, the company raised its dividend rate to 10.5% for its Series A Preferred Stock. Saylor referred to this moment as an “inflection point” for Strategy, as it expands its funding capabilities linked to its Bitcoin strategy.
Analyst Harte also pointed out that the company is broadening its financial reach by creating new credit products and rolling out international securities. A recent B- credit rating from S&P Global will enable Strategy Inc. to access the high-yield market, allowing them to raise capital through means beyond traditional equity sales.
Despite the stock experiencing a decline of 37% year-to-date, Harte described its current valuation—approximately 1.3 times its modified net asset value—as attractive, particularly in comparison to its historical average of 2.1 times. This, he argues, positions the stock as a favorable entry point for investors interested in a pure play on Bitcoin.
While acknowledging that Bitcoin’s inherent price volatility might exert short-term pressure on the stock, Harte remains optimistic about Strategy’s increasing funding avenues and diverse product lineup, which he believes augurs well for its future prospects.
As it stands, MSTR stock holds a consensus Strong Buy rating according to TipRanks, based on the assessments of 14 Wall Street analysts. This favorable outlook consists of 13 Buy ratings and one Sell assigned in the past three months. The average price target for MSTR of $532.84 suggests a substantial upside of approximately 109.31% from its current trading levels.
