Founded in Switzerland in 2017, Tangem has emerged as a leading manufacturer of hardware wallets for securing digital assets, such as Bitcoin and Ethereum. Headquartered in Zug, the company specializes in cold storage solutions that support more than 16,000 tokens across over 90 blockchains, building a presence in 170 countries worldwide.
Tangem’s product lineup includes a credit card-sized NFC hardware wallet and a ring-sized wearable wallet, both of which can be paired with the Tangem app for enhanced functionality. Users have the ability to securely store, stake, swap, and spend their virtual assets, with the added convenience of making Visa payments. The wallets are compatible with both Apple Pay and Google Pay, providing streamlined access to digital transactions.
The design of Tangem’s products is mobile-native, merging the security of cold storage with the flexibility of active self-custody. This allows users to manage their cryptocurrency holdings through a single interface, making the process more intuitive and accessible.
In recent news, Tangem has significantly expanded its retail presence. Following availability at major retailers like Walmart, Amazon, and Virgin Megastore, the company announced that its hardware wallets are now also sold in over 200 Best Buy locations. This rollout represents Tangem’s largest expansion into U.S. retail and underscores the growing consumer interest in tools that facilitate direct ownership of cryptocurrency assets, moving away from centralized platforms.
“Getting Tangem wallets onto Best Buy shelves means that for the first time, any consumer can access a hardware wallet that is both genuinely secure and genuinely easy to use,” said Tangem’s CTO, Andrey Lazutkin. He emphasized that this combination has never been available at such a scale, fundamentally changing the landscape of self-custody for cryptocurrency users.
As Tangem continues to capture market interest, the move into Best Buy highlights the increasing demand for reliable self-custody solutions in the evolving world of digital finance.
