A recent report released by Bitget, titled the “Web3 New Generation Talent Insight Report,” highlights pressing challenges within the Web3 industry. Contrary to common beliefs, it finds that the sector is facing a significant misalignment between recruitment barriers and employment opportunities, rather than a mere shortage of talent.
The findings are based on a multi-regional survey conducted under the Blockchain4Youth (B4Y) initiative. A striking 54% of respondents cited the expectation of “prior experience” for entry-level jobs as the primary hurdle to entering the industry. Additionally, 52% noted that educational institutions often do not equip students with the practical skills necessary for success in this rapidly evolving field.
The survey also delved into the demographics of those interested in Web3 careers. It revealed that the industry continues to attract highly educated individuals, particularly from emerging markets. Almost 46% of respondents are aged between 23 and 30, and over 58% possess at least a bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree. Career preferences among respondents show a strong inclination towards the “integration of AI and blockchain,” which was selected by 61% as the most appealing career path. Furthermore, 62% expressed the view that mentorship from seasoned industry professionals would significantly facilitate their career growth.
In an effort to address these challenges, the Blockchain4Youth Learning Center has seen a surge in enrollment, surpassing 10,000 registered students. The center provides comprehensive courses that culminate in certifications and job opportunities, effectively bridging the gap between training and career advancement. This initiative not only aims to enhance individual career prospects but also seeks to support the broader talent needs of the Web3 sector as it continues to evolve and expand.
