Ripple is advancing its mission to merge traditional finance with blockchain technology through its newly announced collaboration with Securitize. The company revealed that its Ripple USD (RLUSD) stablecoin will now be accessible on Securitize’s platform, providing investors in tokenized funds with the ability to seamlessly convert their assets into RLUSD. This development introduces a smart contract feature that allows holders of two early tokenized short-term funds, BlackRock’s BUIDL fund and VanEck’s VBILL treasury product, to interchange their shares for RLUSD at any time.
This integration creates a fresh exit strategy for stablecoin transactions while still connecting investors with on-chain yield strategies and decentralized finance (DeFi) opportunities. The support for RLUSD with BUIDL is already operational, and compatibility with VBILL will follow shortly.
Ripple’s executives see this partnership as a natural evolution of the company’s stablecoin strategy, which is focused on enterprise solutions. Jack McDonald, Senior Vice President of Stablecoins at Ripple, emphasizes that RLUSD is designed with regulatory clarity and institutional confidence, enhancing its utility as a crucial tool for liquidity and settlement within the financial ecosystem.
Securitize also recognized the advantages of this development, citing the programmable liquidity and expedited settlement capabilities for tokenized real-world assets. CEO Carlos Domingo remarked that the integration of RLUSD facilitates institutional adoption by enabling compliant, real-time transfers across various investment products.
Since its introduction in late 2024, RLUSD has rapidly established itself as a leading enterprise-grade stablecoin. With support from a New York trust charter and stringent reserve management practices, RLUSD is fully backed 1:1 with liquid U.S. dollar assets and has already transcended $700 million in circulation. Its growing adoption spans areas such as DeFi, cross-border payments, and liquidity pools.
By incorporating RLUSD into the Securitize tokenization ecosystem and extending its reach to the XRP Ledger, this partnership aims to position stable and transparent on-chain settlement as a fundamental aspect of institutional finance.
