Two men are now in custody after being accused of a home invasion and attempted kidnapping in Minnesota. Raymond Christian Garcia, 23, and Isiah Angelo Garcia, 24, were apprehended on Monday in Waller County, Texas. Both face serious charges, including three counts of kidnapping, first-degree burglary, and aggravated robbery stemming from an incident that occurred on September 19 in Grant.
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office received a distressing 911 call from a resident who whispered that he and his family were being held hostage at gunpoint. Responding deputies quickly arrived at the scene on Inwood Way N., discovering three victims inside the home. The situation escalated to a community alert, prompting neighboring residents to shelter in place. As a precautionary measure, the homecoming football game at Mahtomedi High School was canceled.
According to criminal complaints against the Garcia brothers, the men had been lying in wait outside the home prior to the incident. They allegedly confronted a resident taking out the garbage and forced him back inside at gunpoint. One suspect reportedly held the 911 caller and his mother at gunpoint with an AR-15 style rifle, while the other coerced the caller’s father into driving to the family cabin near Jacobson, Minnesota. During this ordeal, the suspects are said to have stolen more than $72,000 in cryptocurrency through multiple transactions.
As investigations continued over the weekend, detectives recovered weapons and additional evidence along the nearby Gateway Trail. Surveillance footage captured the license plate of a rental car linked to the suspects, which ultimately led law enforcement to their location in Texas.
Washington County Sheriff Dan Starry expressed gratitude for the collaborative efforts of local, state, and federal authorities, highlighting the importance of their commitment to justice. He stated, “Their unwavering commitment to justice has brought resolution to a deeply traumatizing criminal act and has provided a measure of peace to the family affected.”
The timeline for the extradition of the Garcia brothers back to Minnesota remains unclear, but law enforcement continues to pursue this case closely.
